The clinical term for this treatment is low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (LiESWT).
The treatment uses focused soundwaves which are applied to the penis using our Swiss engineered shockwave equipment, the STORZ DUOLITH® SD1 which provides ultra-focused shock wave therapy, superior to radial shockwave used by many other practitioners. The targeted soundwave creates new blood vessels in the penis which allow for increased blood flow and stimulates existing blood vessels to work better.
To have an erection the body must create sufficient blood flow into the penis and if there are problems with tissue in the penis the flow of blood will be insufficient. That’s why shockwave equipment has been used successfully to restore blood flow as the angiogenic properties it generates has the capability to create new capillaries from existing blood vessels.
As well as this the shockwave treatment generates an anti-inflammatory reaction, and the body responds by increasing blood circulation and metabolism which in turn accelerates the body’s own healing processes while simultaneously regenerating tissue, increasing neurogenesis and clearing micro plaque from the penis. As a result, stronger, long-lasting erections are achieved.
It is a non-invasive therapy performed in a private treatment room and does not require anesthesia. You do not need to prepare anything in advance for your appointment.
During the procedure, your doctor will move a hand-held device which emit gentle pulses around different areas of your penis. The entire treatment lasts approximately 20 minutes.
Considerable benefits are often seen after just two or three sessions; however, the full benefit will not be realized until all the sessions are completed, and further improvements may be seen in the weeks following the end of the treatment as your body acclimatizes to the adjustments created during the treatment.
